Main research focuses:
Transition metal catalysis – the utilization of iridium, copper, palladium, cobalt, iron for development of novel transformations of small organic molecules for applications in synthesis of materials, medicine, and technology. Specific emphasis on the development of greener technologies that utilize simplified, robust, and efficient catalytic systems, and explore previously unknown realms of chemical reactivity.
Synthetic strategies toward strained macrocycles. The synthesis of macrocycles is explored through intramolecular coupling in transition metal-catalyzed reactions. Exploration of the inherent reactivity of the macrocycles is investigated in terms of kinetics and thermodynamics. These strategies are also applied in the total synthesis of natural products.
Organometallic synthesis. These projects focus on construction of novel transition metal-organic complexes for applications in medicine.
